To ring in the New Year, Josh and I celebrated with dinner alone. It's not like we don't have this opportunity often, but we are usually rushed and overwhelmed due to the responsibilities that we know await us at work, school, and home. However, being between semesters, we felt a little bit more at ease and spent the evening discussing what we want for the upcoming year.
With the end of our schooling in sight, I feel like we have an overwhelming amount of options available to us. Josh went back to school during the Fall of 2006. He has a mere 18 hours in front of him. If all goes well (i.e., Spanish 4) he is tentatively set to graduate in August. It is scary, overwhelming, and exciting to think that his graduation will open so many different doors. We have no idea what our life will look like at this time next year.
I am working on my master's in school counseling. I recently completed my first practicum experience and will have my first of two internships beginning next week. I am set to graduate in December. I LOVE what school counseling entails, and I LOVE teaching...I don't LOVE doing them simultaneously! It takes every ounce of energy in me, therefore I am looking forward to being able to committ myself to one or the other after graduation.
At dinner, Josh expressed an interest in the following for the year: improve his health, and work on finding a church home. Emily hopes to do the following: cook more, clean more, work out more, eat less :)
As the holiday break comes to an end, and we get ready to put our nose back to the grind and submerge ourselves back into the sea of responsibilities, we have challenged ourselves to be excellent in all that we do. Cheers to 2009!
